My proposal for the Cow Parade is a cow entitled 'Ermintal'. The title has been created from the marriage of a well-known cow celebrity from the 'Magic Round About' with a popular continental cheese. A humorous pun that links well with the ideas conveyed in the design.

The cow's outer appearance shares a structural similarity to continental cheese. Illusionistic shallow concave shapes that imitate the holes in cheese replace the usual black spotty patches that adorn the Friesian hide. To aid in completing this visual metaphor the rest of the cow is painted a flat mellow yellow tone to convey a sense that the cow is formed completely from this diary product. The piece reflects a conceptual link between a cow and it's yield.

Surface decoration of the cow is achieved through the application of acrylic paint with brushes and sponges. Paint has been applied smoothly and flatly to achieve a similar surface quality of fresh cut cheese, using trompe l'oeil like techniques to imitate the curved in holes.
