Business Consultancy

Over the last year I have worked upon a number of projects for arts & business organisations in London. Since April 2003 I have been an associate of TNG Business Support and from 2006 for Enfield Enterprise Agency, mentoring, advising clients and creative people how to set up in business. I am serving ethical adviser for the Association of Illustrators, AOI. Over the last few years I have been a consultant to Artquest, The Artists Information Company, CIDA, ICA, AOI, Shape Arts, Dada South, ACAVA, RCA Innovation, Surrey Institute of Art and Design, London Business School and Higher Education for Capability at Middlesex University.

I am an associate member of the Institute of Business Advisers and have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance. From November 2002 I have been a Director on the board of the North London Enterprise Club, and have set up a networking group for creative people in North London. I have been a member of the Federation of Small Businesses since June 2002 and have served on the London Area Policy Unit. Member of the Artists Professional Development Network.

y01/03 Senior Portfolio Development Worker and Enterprise Trainer at ACAVA. Offering one to one guidance and support for artists on careers and training. Developing portfolio workshops and delivering Professional Development and Enterprise Training Courses for Visual Artists 'Learn Skills' years 2002 onwards. In conjunction with ACAVA I have set up the first portfolio lending library for artists in London.
01/02 In conjunction with the ICA and Queens Park New Media Centre. Tutoring small groups of creative people in developing enterprise skills and one to one advice sessions.
02/02 Delivering a short course in Professional Development at Hertfordshire University, on the BA Applied and Media Arts. On going guest lectures at various Universities and Colleges.
y01/03 Devised '7 Steps to Self Employment' under Management section. Researched listings, advice and contact details for the Artquest website in the Financial, Legal and Liability, New Business, Self-Employment, Living and Working, Marketing and Promotion, sections of the site. y01/03 Professional Development training for disabled artists, a short course over two months, researched, devised and delivered in partnership with Shape and London Arts. Focusing on exhibition management, marketing, legal issues and enterprise skills. Currently working as a special arts advisor, on the 'Creative People' initiative.
y00/01 Consultant for the Central London Learning Partnership, researching visual arts/contemporary crafts projects. Supported by London Arts, The London Institute, London Voluntary Service Council, and Camden Lifelong Learning Policy and Research Group. Mapping these activities in the seven central London boroughs involving socially excluded groups, identifying projects and individuals to study in depth with a view to defining who the learners are, learning barriers, progression aims, benefits and recruitment methods. y00/01 Research position, investigation into entrepreneurship in the creative industries, defining the qualities and skills needed to develop micro-enterprises in London. The project included deskwork, interviewing entrepreneurs from a range of businesses and writing-up reports for the creation of a new BTEC Award titled 'Entrepreneurial Skills in the Creative Industries'. This has led to the development of teaching material for the course that aims to develop post-graduate students' practical entrepreneurial skills, alongside a mentoring scheme.
2000 Research in to creative thinking methods and an examination of creativity in Contemporary Art Practice. Analysing the creative stages in the realising of artworks and the sufficient or necessary circumstances needed for creativity to develop and exist.
y99/02 Developing course material at level four for the Fine Art Professional Practice Programme at Kensington and Chelsea College.
y99/00 Group Leader for 'Recognition of Achievement Project'. Setting up a community arts project for marginalized and homeless young people. LOCN Units written at Entry Level and Level One, in painting, drawing, sculpture and picture framing.
